INAUGURAL CEREMONY

(5:00-7:30 pm, December 17, 2001)

The International Conference on Pharmaceutical Affairs (ICPA) was organised in Kathmandu during 17-20 December 2001. His Majesty's Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health, Department of Drug Administration, United States Pharmacopoeia Drug Quality and Information Program (USPDQI), Drug information Association (DIA), and Graduate Pharmacists' Association , Nepal (GPAN) jointly organized the conference. The theme of the conference was 'Focus on the Quality and Compliance of Pharmaceuticals: Global Harmonization and its Impact and Regional Cooperation and Harmonization Amongst SAARC Countries.

Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba inaugurated the conference on 17th December 2001 and graced the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. The session was chaired by the Honorable Minister for Health Mr.Sharat Singh Bhandari.

Mr. Bhupendra Bahadur Thapa, Chief Drug Administrator, Department of Drug Administration, Nepal and chairman of the organizing committee extended his warm welcome to those present inauguration ceremony with his words.

Mr. Jaya Bir Karmacharya, Coordinator of the Souvenir Committee and Mr. Robin Shrestha, deputy Coordinator of the Souvenir Committee then presented the souvenir to the chief Guest and other distinguished guests.

Ms. Nancy Blum, Program Director, Global Assistance Initiatives, USP and the Conference Coordinator highlighted the conference with her words.

Mr. Mahendra Nath Aryal, Secretary, Ministry of Health presented his remarks on the conference. Honorable Member of the Planning Commission, Dr Nirmal Prasad Panday presented his remarks on the conference.

Honorable state Minister for Health Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet presented his remarks on the conference. Rt. Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Sher Bahadur Deuba inaugurated the program and gave his inaugural speech.

Letter of Appreciation and 'Dosalla' as honour was given by the Prime Minister to Dr. Purushottam Narayan Suwal, the first pharmacist to initiate pharmaceutical activities in Nepal.

Chairman, Minister for Health, Mr. Sharat Singh Bhandari gave the remarks on the Conference.

Finally Mr. Ajudey Prasad Shrestha, President, Graduate Pharmacists' Association, Nepal and Co-Chairman of the Organizing committee gave his vote of thanks to all present in the inauguration ceremony with his words.

with the permission from the Chairperson, end of the inaugural session was declared.

CLOSING CEREMONY

(6:00-7:30 pm, December 20,2001)

The Memorable International Conference ended on 20th December,2001. Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Honorable State Minister of Health honored the Closing session as the Chief Guest and Dr. Som Nath Aryal, Special Secretary, Ministry of Health as the Chairperson.

Mr. Ajudey Prasad Shrestha, President, Graduate Pharmacists' Association, Nepal (GPAN) gave a very warm welcome to those present in the closing ceremony with his words.

Ms Nancy Blum, Program Director, Global assistance Initiatives, USP and the Conference Coordinator presented her remarks on the conference with her words.

Mr. Sultan Ghani, Manager,Division of Pharmaceutical Quality, Health Canada and Program Co-Chairperson presented his remarks on the conference.

Mr. Bimal Man Shrestha, Member Secretary of the Organizing Committee, presented the final recommendations.

These outcomes of the conference "THE RECOMMENDATIONS" were then handed over to Mr. Mohan Bahadur basnet, Honorable State Minister of Health by Mr. Ajudey Prasad Shrestha, President, Graduate Pharmacists' Association Nepal.

Mr. Bhupendra B. Thapa, Chief Drug Administrator, Department of Drug Administration, Nepal and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Briefly highlighted the remarks on the conference and gave vote of thanks with his words.

Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet Honorable State Minister of Health and the chief guest of that session presented the souvenir to Ms Nancy Blum, Program Director, Global Assistance Initiatives, USP and the Conference Coordinator and to the International speakers on behalf of the Organizing Committee.

Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet Honorable State Minister of Health and the chief guest of the Closing session presented his remarks on the Conference with his words.

Dr. Som Nath Aryal, Special Secretary, Ministry of Health as the Chairman of Closing Session finally gave his remarks on the Conference.

With the permission from the Chairperson, end of the Closing Session was declared and there was a final farewell dinner to all the participants, speakers & guests.
